The City of Gloucester, where centuries ago, the Romans marched over the Cotswold Hills…saw beneath them the lush Severn Valley and decided to build a garrison. From that day onward visitors have made Gloucester the focal point of their travels. Over the years Gloucester has played host to many different peoples, Celts, Romans, Saxons and Normans, each leaving their individual mark.

Quite simply, the Royal Forest of Dean is one of the most unspoilt areas in England. 24,000 acres of ancient Forest create a magical setting for walking and other outdoor pursuits. In years gone by, the Dean was criss-crossed by railways that served the mines and quarries. Today, those lines wander through the peace and quiet of the Forest and are being re-opened as cycling routes suitable for families and leisurely biking on gentle gradients away from public highways.
